What you HEAR most often will become what you believe. What you believe will direct your actions.
There are many things in our everyday life that can have an effect on our attitude. In a single day you may go through many changes to your attitude depending on whats happening, what’s not happening, who you are working with, what you are seeing and more than anything WHAT YOU ARE HEARING.
What you hear most often has tremendous power and influence on who you are as a person, your self-image, your image of others, the things you think about and the ideas that move your life forward. A most influential portion of what you hear comes mainly from the people that you choose to be surround by.
Ask yourself…. On a regular daily basis, do I hear negative opinions, complaining, gossip and small talk more than I hear positive, enthusiastic encouraging and uplifting talk? I bet for most of you its the first and you have never paid any attention to it. I bet you have joined in such conversation as well and never thought about the influence it had on the rest of your day. It’s the every day things that we give no thought to that can effect us the most.
Nothing has a greater influence on your life more than the people YOU CHOOSE to be surrounded by.
What you hear most often is what you come to believe, what you come to repeat and what controls how you look at yourself and how or what you see in your future. In short, what you hear most often is a direct reflection of what your attitude in life will be like and thus YOUR FUTURE.
The question is: Who are you listening to most often and what are they saying? If you are wanting to advance in life, achieve something that seems impossible or attain a goal that seem out of your reach, simply hearing or reading something motivating and positive once in a while is not enough to alter your personal outlook, especially if the people you are around the most and communicate with the most have a negative attitude about life. Unfortunately this probably describes most of the people you are around on a daily basis. Its unfortunate that all the visual and audio media we are surrounded with today is saturated with negativity and even more unfortunate is the direct effect it has had on our mental and emotional mind set. The effect of this negative sensory influence can be heard in most any conversation with most any person but, there are a few that it can be seen most predominately.
Have you ever met or known a person that is the proverbial ”complainer”? You know, that person that has an opinion about everything, nothing is the way he or she thinks it should be and they always know better. Ever notice that when your involved in a conversation with this person you tend to join in and offer your own complaints and opinions to the “negative” conversation without even thinking about it? We all do it and have done it. It is totally natural because it gives us a sense of empowerment and authority when we speak our mind and express our opinion..
How can we change that?……… Here is something to think about before you ever speak:
Every conversation you listen to and every word you speak enters your mind through your ears and influences your thoughts for the rest of the day. Ever had an argument in the morning and were still rehashing it in your mind that night before bed? How many times a day do you have negative conversations or hear negative words? How many times does that translate to if you consider a week or a year? Saddest thing is that negative words do not even have to be spoken by you or directly to you for them to have a powerfully negative effect on your attitude. Sometimes all it takes is for you to hear them.
Now, have you ever had a conversation with someone who spoke in a positive way about everything? While listening to them or speaking with them, the words you spoke seemed to also take on a positive tone, your mind just moved to a motivated place where you started speaking and thinking about ideas or changes you could make that would make your life better in some way. Their positive attitude had a direct influence on your mindset and also your attitude and point of view for the rest of the day (at least). Its exciting to our thinking and attitude to imaging something better. Can you remember ever feeling this way? Neither success nor happiness ever comes from a negative thought or attitude. Nothing good will ever come from a conversation with a complainer. So why have those conversations at all?
Your attitude about your own future, positive or negative, is a direct reflection of the people you communicate with most often.
Seek out positive conversations, listen to them, and be a part of them as often as possible. It’s not enough to remain silent in the midst of negativity, you must remove yourself from the ability to hear it at all.
And as a last thought I would like to leave you with this: If you want to believe in a better future and feel more successful about your life (as it is today) then spend your time communicating with and surrounded by positive people. They will fill your ears with positive thoughts, words and attitude. If your attitude can be so dramatically effected by the negative or positive words of others, imagine the power behind you own words.
